What the Future Holds

Why should I? If it is such a rugged journey to rid yourself of the effects of your past, you may ask if the struggle is worth the effort. You may feel afraid to even attempt it.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:13-16 NIV)

What does the Psalmist say about God’s intentions for our lives? Before you were born, God had a purpose for you. He created you for this purpose. Way before evil, or bad choices, or pain, or injury tried to interrupt that purpose, you were intended to be a blessing in this world. If you are stuck in the pain of the past, you cannot get to the realization of that purpose. If you can get through it, you can find some of the peace you know you are intended to have. You can find the thing that God wants you to have more than anything else, a loving relationship with him and a future full of hope.
