If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from
all unrighteousness.
--1 John 1:9 NIV
Be assured that God is loving, and when you confess shortcomings,
God is eager to forgive and restore your broken spirit and remind
you that you are God's redeemed child.
Dear God, I see the real me better in your presence than at
any other time or with anyone else. You know my selfish motives
and You see how I use them in the unpleasant and hurtful things
I do to others, especially to those I love the most. My pride
and prejudice keep me from doing what is best for both others
and for me. Lust constantly haunts me to be less the person you
created me to be. I confess my sins and pray You will give me
the spiritual strength to overcome my temptations. Take my guilt
away so that I have the energy to serve You and others. Amen.
Someone once said that if we confess the same wrongdoing more
than three times, the problem is not guilt, but a difficulty
believing that we are forgiven. God is forgiving; will you forgive
yourself?
